Day 01- Arrival | Kandy – Sunday 24th July 2016

Your flight touches down at midnight today. Upon arrival you will be welcomed by your hosts and transferred to your hotel in Negombo. Arriving at your hotel approximately an hour away, check into a delightful accommodation for a restful sleep through the remaining hours of the night.

Day 02- Kandy – Monday 25th July 2016

You are given the option to sleep in this morning and enjoy a leisurely late breakfast.

Continuing further into the central part of the country, now you arrive at your next destination at the beautiful Hotel in Kandy. There is time for a quick swim in the amazing infinity pool.

Day 07– Kandy – Saturday 30th July 2016

After an early Breakfast visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens in Kandy which begins our touring of the city. The orchid house is one of the gardens show pieces with over 300 orchid varieties to see. Continuing your tour you make a stop at the Temple of the Tooth which houses Sri Lanka’s most important Buddhist relic – a tooth of the Buddha. The golden roofed temple is visited by both locals and tourists bearing flowers and incense daily. It is a genuine place of worship. For anyone interested a gem shop may be visited as Sri Lanka has one of the worlds’ finest collections of precious and semi-precious gems for sale. King Solomon was said to have procured a great ruby for the Queen of Sheba from Ceylon.

This evening you are treated to a cultural performance by Kandyan dancers.

Day 08 – Kandy to Colombo via Pinnawala– Sunday 31st July 2016

Today will incorporate some real highlights. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage in the morning has to be seen to be believed. We will not only have a chance to feed a baby elephant but see some of the 100 resident elephants of the orphanage wander down the village street to their bathing area! It is definitely a site to behold. There is time to enjoy lunch here while watching the elephants enjoy their favourite time of the day – bath time! The orphanage boasts the largest herd of captive elephants in the world in an environment that is as close as possible to their natural habitat. It is an admirable program.

Continuing to Colombo you arrive late afternoon where we check-in to our final beautiful hotel.

Day 09 – Colombo – Monday 01st August 2016

You have a chance to sleep in this morning and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Late morning you board the coach for a sight-seeing tour of the country’s Capital. This port city has a rich colonial heritage with a mix of races, religions and cultures. With its diversities comes understanding and tolerance being one of the stand out features of its people and consequently of the country.

Day 10 – Colombo to Bentota – Tuesday 02nd August 2016

Departing Colombo this morning you’ll head south through the beach area of Bentota and a number of other small villages. Taking a look around at the local attractions is a lovely introduction to the versatility of this pearl of the ocean. Be prepared to see something different every day. The distances are short in Sri Lanka but it does take quite a while to travel a short way. The travel is part of the journey in Sri Lanka! Keep an eye out for the unique way of fishing on stilts, which is amazing considering fish are such a large part of the diet here.

We also visit a Turtle Hatchery where eggs are kept safe from predators and released after hatching for a better chance of survival. Sri Lanka has five breeds of turtles calling it home

Day 11- Bentota – Wednesday 03rd August 2016

You are given the option to sleep-in this morning and enjoy a leisurely late breakfast. Morning is free to take advantage of the hotel facilities, including the swimming pool and the ocean.

Afternoon engage in a charity programme where we visit a children’s orphanage in south area, where we will spend time with the orphan children.
